When I start learning Latin from G10 and G11, I find myself increasingly drawn to the realm of Latin classical literature.  The decision to enroll in the Latin classical literature reading course stems from my profound interest in exploring the roots of Western civilization.  This ancient language and its literature serve as the cornerstone of our intellectual heritage, shaping our philosophy, art, and language. We read and discussed three books in the summer: “The Odyssey of Homer”, “The tragedy of Julius Caesar (The Pelican Shakespeare)”, and “Antony and Cleopatra (The Pelican Shakespeare)”. We exchanged ideas in the class. There is no right and wrong opinion. We were intelligently and critically appreciative of our common heritage and conscious of our social and moral obligations. The conversation doesn’t end when I left the class. I let it spill over into other interactions with my friends.
